MAPLETON – The PMD arena and all community centres in the township will open on Jan. 31.
The re-opening coincides with the easing of mandatory public health restrictions introduced by the province on Jan. 5 in response to rising COVID-19 case numbers and hospitalizations.
In a Jan. 28 press release the township stated all public health protocols must be followed within these facilities including a requirement that anyone age 12 and over must be fully vaccinated to enter.
The Mapleton administrative office remained closed to the public, as of Jan. 31. However on Monday the township issued a notice indicating the office will open as of Feb. 1.
The office opening followed an announcement on Jan. 29 that Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Medical Officer of Health Dr. Nicola Mercer had rescinded her letter of instruction requiring employers to allow remote work where possible.
Staff can be reached through email and through the municipal phone system at 519-638-3313.
“We continue to praise the community of Mapleton on their cooperation and patience during such unprecedented times. We want you all to know we are all in this fight against COVID-19 together,” township officials state.
The release states the township “strongly encourages” residents to get vaccinated “as this is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones.”
