MINTO – The Minto Farmers Market will host another of its popular online trivia nights on Jan. 14.
The event will run from 8 to 9:30pm and feature four rounds of trivia. Winners will receive a Farmers Market prize pack.
Cost of play is $10 per person (e-transfers can be made to mintofarmersmarket@gmail.com). There is no limit on team size and all ages are welcome to play.
All proceeds will support the Minto Farmers Market.

Kinsmen trivia
HARRISTON – The Harriston Kinsmen Club is hosting an online trivia night on Jan. 21.
The event will begin at 7:30pm via Facebook Live on the club’s Facebook page.
Organizers suggest a donation of $40 for teams of four to six players, “but feel free to donate what you can.”

Fun Friday Challenge
MAPLETON – The local Seniors Centre for Excellence (SCE) is seeking donations of items that can be used as gifts for its weekly Fun Friday Challenge.
“Each Friday, at the SCE we do a Fun Friday Challenge for our seniors,” centre officials state. “It is a great way for us to learn about one another and hear stories about life as it was, or opinions about much. We often have a good laugh together, and sometimes a little cry as our friends respond to the thought-provoking, memory-tweaking questions.”
Every person who participates has a chance to win a weekly prize that is either donated or purchased.
“We have had some kind and generous donations in the past that allows us to create imaginative prizes and fun treats for our local seniors. But this new year our stores are getting low,” officials note.

Accepting donations
PALMERSTON – The Blessings Centre in Palmerston will be accepting donations on Saturdays although currently not open for shopping to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
Until further notice the centre will be open on Saturdays only, from 10am to 12pm for donations.
Centre officials are hoping the system can continue until we can reopen properly.
“Some of our wonderful volunteers have agreed to come in and accept donations,” officials state.
Donations to the back door of the store, located at 205 Main Street, Palmerston.
“Wear your masks. We will be,” centre officials urge.
Leagues suspended play
WELLINGTON COUNTY – Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL), which includes the Mount Forest Patriots, has announced suspension of play until at least Jan. 27.
“We are very hopeful that we will be able to resume play soon after Jan. 27. Plans and schedules are being reviewed and amended as required to ensure we are able to complete our season and compete for the Schmalz Cup,” PJHL officials state.
The Western Ontario Athletic Association also suspended play in its Senior hockey league until further notice.
A statement from Minto 81’s team executive notes the club is awaiting clarification on what the plans will be regarding continuation of play.
“It is the hope of all involved regular season play will continue shortly followed by a full playoff,” team officials state.
