MINTO – The Town of Minto will be reopening all town-operated recreational facilities to the public on Jan. 3.
The Norgan Theatre in Palmerston will reopen on Jan. 7, while town programs such as public skating, shinny, walking groups and pickleball will resume on Jan. 10, the town announced in a Dec. 31 press release.
The town closed its municipal office and recreational facilities on Dec. 23 in response to a rise in local COVID-19 cases.
At the time officials stated that even when the rec facilities reopen, “Depending on case counts, the municipal office may remain closed to the public.”
The Dec. 31 press release made no mention of the municipal office and town officials did not immediately reply to a request for clarification about the office.
As facilities reopen and programming resumes, Minto officials say the following changes will be in effect:
- proof of vaccination is required for youth aged 12 to 17 participating in organized sports (as of Dec. 20);
- starting Jan. 4 anyone aged 12 and older will be required to present a vaccine certificate with a QR code (on a device or printed) in order to enter facilities;
- starting Jan. 10 anyone with a medical exemption will be required to present a QR code to enter settings where proof is required (physician notes will no longer be accepted).
