We have had the pleasure of loving our Doreen for many memorable years. Although we are sad she will not be sharing time with us any longer we know she had a full and rich life. The family list is long but we know Mom would have wanted those dear to her mentioned. We are sure people of this community will recognize some of the family members. Doreen was predeceased by her husband Harold. Missed by her 8 children and partners Chris (2019) & Deb, Teri & Carl, Mary & Tom (2018), Ted & Chris, Donna, McKim & Peg, Brenda & Ross, Robert & Lisa. 18 Grandchildren Aaron, Justin & Courtney, Dana & Jeremy, Andrew, Reno, Therese, Diana & David, Laura & Brad, Emma, John & Samantha, Rachel & Angela, Jenna & Alex, Alex & Jess, Greg & Carly, Rozlyn, Mercedes, Hudson, Conley. 9 Great Grandchildren Makenna, Norah, Fynn, Dayton, Dylan, Aria, Chloe, Carl, James. Our Aunt Jean and Mom’s best friend, her step brothers Tim & Norma, Joe & Gail, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Doreen was born in Forest Ontario and had good memories of growing up with her Grandma and playing with her cousins. At the age of 13 she moved to her new home on the 1st Line starting a life that would see her finding a loving husband along with his entire family. She always put the well being of others before herself which showed in her volunteerism and love of community. She was a founding member of the Grandmothers of the Grand and the Grand Quilt Guild. A member of the Melville United Church Women, the Red Hat Society and taught 4-H for many years. Her working life started at Villies Fergus Restaurant alongside her soon to be sister in law, Jean and on to Dominion Grocers for more hours. She made a career as a wife and Mom raising 8 children while her husband drove truck. Once her children went to school she returned to the workforce and after 20+ years she retired from Wellington Terrace. She had many wonderful memories of people who called the Terrace their home as well as the staff. Doreen has lived the past few years at Highland Manor where she enjoyed the company of all who live and work there. To the Staff – Thank you for your kindness and care. Our heartfelt appreciation to all the doctors, nurses and staff who have cared for Mom at The Elora Medical Group, Groves Hospital and St. Joseph Rehab. Her love of God will guide her to the next life. We know she will find work to keep her busy and have her heavenly flock join in. Peace be with you. A service was held on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Melville United Church. Memorial donations in Doreen’s memory may be made to Melville United, Groves Memorial Hospital or to a charity of choice.
