GUELPH – Compass Community Services will celebrate its 35th anniversary virtually, with staff, volunteers, and its board of directors on Dec. 10.
The agency rebranded from Family Counselling and Support Services for Guelph-Wellington in June of this year.
Compass has increased in size and complexity since its inception as a prevention-oriented program of the Children’s Aid Society. The charitable, non-profit organization supports residents of Guelph-Wellington with counselling and therapy, system navigation, and myriad programs and services across its four primary areas of support: therapy services, developmental services, telephone support, and workplace wellness.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate our 35th anniversary newly rebranded as Compass,” said executive director Joanne Young Evans.
“We chose Compass to reflect the evolution of this organization, along with its current vision and range of services. Our new name also captures the reliable, trusted direction and support the agency has been bringing to community members for decades.”
The virtual celebration will begin Dec. 10 at 11:30 am and will give staff and volunteers a chance to reminisce through a special anniversary video that shares the agency’s past faces and spaces.
There will also be congratulatory videos from Guelph MP Lloyd Longfield and MPP Mike Schreiner.
Young Evans stated, “We’re still here providing guidance and direction for community members after 35 years. From accessibility and equity to diversity and inclusion, we’ve found new and innovative ways to grow and expand our programs and services. We believe we’re building a stronger, more resilient community, and that’s something to celebrate.”
