GUELPH – The Wellington Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) trustees selected their chair and vice chair for the coming year at the board’s inaugural meeting on the evening of Dec. 6.
Returning for a second term as board chair is Vikki Dupuis, who has served the board for over 25 years, earning the honourable Ontario Catholic Trustees Association Trustee Award of Merit in 2019.
As a champion of equality and empowering youth leaders, she brings valuable knowledge and experience to the board that has helped to create exceptional learning environments, detailed a Dec. 7 press release from the board.
“I am honoured to be re-elected as chair and to continue to work with my fellow trustees to advocate for a quality faith-based education and school experience for all of our students, from the time they enter our system until their graduation,” Dupuis said.
“Our focus as a board is to support the hard work of our administration and staff in the safe, welcoming, and equitable environments of learning within our schools,
“These are unprecedented times and now, more than ever, we need to provide our children and youth with supportive learning spaces where students’ well-being, mental health and growth in learning are the focus.”
Sebastian Dal Bo will return as vice chair, serving alongside Dupuis.
Another long-standing member of the board, Dal Bo has served as trustee for the past 10 years which has included previous terms as vice chair.
As a former principal and teacher with WCDSB, trustee Dal Bo brings experience and a strong connection to the district in this role, officials say.
“It is an honour to serve as vice chair for 2022,” said Dal Bo. “In my role as vice chair it is my priority to continue to support excellence in Catholic education and strong connections with our families, parishes and schools in the coming year.”
In their service as chair and vice chair, Dupius and Dal Bo will focus on student achievement and well-being, participating in making decisions that benefit the entire board district while representing the interests of their constituents.
Each will serve a term of one year, commencing the first board meeting in December.
