Robert Glen Hale of Harriston, passed away peacefully at Royal Terrace Nursing Home in Palmerston on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at the age of 93. Glen will be deeply missed by his wife of 62 years, Doris (Bell) Hale. Dear father of Marilyn and David Purcell of Listowel and Brian of Harriston. Cherished grandfather of Erik and Claire. Brother of Monica Hale of Kitchener. Remembered by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Sadie (Fitzpatrick) Hale, and his siblings, Frank (Anne), Cyril (Jean), Marion (Joe), Bernard (Janice), and Rosemary (Barry). Glen was born on June 28, 1928, on a farm in Minto Township. He worked at Canada Packers in Harriston as an ice cream truck driver for over four decades and won many safe driving awards. In his retirement, Glen was a volunteer driver for the VON and Children’s Aid and became a favourite with his passengers because he was always on time and could drive in any kind of weather. His frequent travelling companion was his dachshund, Stallone. Throughout his life, Glen had many interests. He enjoyed camping, euchre, crossword puzzles, local history, music, and poetry. He loved to tell funny stories and could still recite from memory many poems that he learned in elementary school. He was always happy to welcome friends and family to his home, and he was fortunate to celebrate many birthday gatherings with them during his long life. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Royal Terrace nursing home for their kindness and care. Visitation was held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston, on Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00pm. A private family Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Harriston on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 11:00am. Rev. Fr. Michael Anderson officiated.
