HARRISTON – The Grey Wellington Theatre Guild is returning to the stage with a fresh serving of comedy this fall.
Set in a small Ontario community, Five Alarm, by Canadian playwright Kristen Da Silva, tells the story of an annual chili cookoff. Rivalry, romance and chicanery are all part of the recipe for the event, which brings local residents together to compete for a memorial trophy and cash prize.
“We have an extremely talented cast and a story that will have audiences laughing, while at the same time warming their hearts with its charming small-town characters and familiar setting and situations,” says director Peggy Raftis. “Audiences will have a lot of fun at this show.”
The cast features Sean Riehl of Mount Forest, Harriston residents Jacob Bieman and Erin Raftis and Minto residents Kelly Lenselink and Amy Sjaarda, all with varying degrees of experience on the local stage.
Behind the scenes Megan Raftis is working as co-director and stage manager, Bob Harron is producing the show, Ken Reynolds will be in the lighting booth. Set design is by Peggy Raftis and Anna Cuomo and Paul Murray has been busy with set construction.
Five Alarm runs Nov. 12, 13 and 19 at 7:30pm and Nov. 14 and 21 at 2pm. The Nov. 20 show will start at 8pm, following the Harriston Santa Claus Parade.
