The family is very sad to announce the sudden passing of Isobel, who lost consciousness while sitting peacefully at home, and died a few hours later at Headwaters Health Care Centre, Orangeville. Beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Orr, mother of Patti (Ken Daley), Doug (Kim Barton), and Marilyn (John Lewis), cherished grandmother of Callum, Emily, and Mallory Orr, Kaitlyn and Shannon Daley, and Will and Tim Lewis. Sister of Elvin MacLeod (Janice). Predeceased by her parents John “Clifford” and Marion, brother Donald, and sister Sheila. Isobel was born July 19, 1931, in Leeburn, Ontario (Bruce Mines), and grew up there on the family farm. She lived with her Aunt Rhoda and Uncle Elvin in Timmins while completing her last year of high school before training to become a registered nurse. While working in Port Hope, Isobel met Bob and they married July 15, 1954 before moving to Windsor and having their three children. The family moved to Oakville in 1966, where Isobel worked as a nurse at Appleby College until her retirement in 1988. Bob and Isobel moved to Hillsburgh in 1991, where they enjoyed being a part of the friendly community and being within walking distance of many of the amenities they valued. Isobel was a kind, thoughtful, and generous soul with a mischievous and light-hearted sense of humour. She cared very deeply for family and friends alike, always expressing her gratitude and love in special moments shared together. She made many friends through her various volunteer efforts, social groups, and physical activities. Isobel was an avid reader, always happy to share a good book. She enjoyed board games and jigsaw puzzles with family and friends, as well as keeping her mind active doing crosswords and sudokus. She spoiled her grandchildren in many ways, including “Grandma” rolls and “frozen” chocolate chip cookies. She balanced tradition with modern-day ways, always having homemade treats and tea on-hand for unexpected visitors, and accepting newer trends adopted by her grandchildren with unconditional love. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Hillsburgh Baptist Church, 21 Trafalgar Rd., Hillsburgh, at 11:00am, Monday November 8 followed by a reception. Proof of two COVID vaccinations and ID will be required for entry. Interment will be at Glen Oaks Cemetery, Oakville, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Hillsburgh Baptist Church, the Upper Credit Humane Society, or a charity of your choice. The family is very grateful for all the support received during this difficult time.
