ARTHUR – Wightman vice-president of customer acquisition Cameron Green presented a donation of $1,370 to the Get In Touch For Hutch (GITFH) organization on Sept. 11. GITFH committee organizer Myrna Hutchison was on hand to receive the Wightman donation at the company’s Arthur office located at 148 George Street.
Wightman is a local, family-owned company, serving Arthur with internet and phone service since 2015, and recently, Wightman has constructed a fibre-to-the-home communications infrastructure in Arthur.
“We’re grateful to be a part of each community that we serve, and the Get In Touch For Hutch organization is doing such great work in the community to raise awareness for mental health,” company officials state in a Sept. 21 press release.
GITFH points out suicide accounts for 24 percent of all deaths of youth 15 to 24. Steven Hutchison took his life while at university in February of 2013, a shocking tragedy for his family and friends.
The #GetInTouchForHutch organization was established to start a conversation about mental health, break down the walls from the stigma and discrimination that many feel when struggling with mental illness.
As stated by the organization “it’s going to take all of us together to make that happen.”
