ELORA – The Collaborative Women of Wellington County (CWOW) is holding a Making Connections event on Sept. 28 from 5:30 to 7:30pm.
The event will be at the GrandWay Events Centre or can be viewed virtually.
As well as being an evening to connect with like-minded people, to build new relationships, and to enjoy and celebrate being together, there will also be a keynote speaker, Tanya McCready.
In partnership with her husband Hank DeBruin, McCready is an entrepreneur, speaker, and international best-selling author.
The couple and their team of dogs have been seen on CTV Canada AM, CNN, Breakfast Television, CBC, and in the Toronto Star, the Globe and Mail, and the New York Times.
In 1999, McCready and DeBruin quit their millwright and engineering jobs, rented out their home in Guelph, and with their seven huskies and four cats moved to the wilderness of Haliburton to chase their dream and build their new home, life, and business – Winterdance Dogsled Tours.
Part of this dream was to build a long distance race team to compete in “The Last Great Race,” Alaska’s 1,000 mile Iditarod, which they did in 2012.
“Tanya will build the bridge between their world and yours, showing that the lessons learned in preparing for any journey are transferable – whether that’s a journey across the Arctic with a dogsled team or a journey to a new career or business, or a journey of personal or professional growth,” organizers say.
In-person attendees will receive a glass of bubbly and a variety of appetizers.
Those who purchase tickets for a table of six will receive wine for the table and sponsor recognition.
Tickets are $30 per person, $250 for a table of six, or $20 to view the event online.
