What’s going on in Forfar Park?

FERGUS – Fitness buffs get ready.

Four pieces of outdoor fitness equipment will be installed in Forfar Park – the first such installation in a public park in Centre Wellington – as work at the three-acre park has begun.

Other work at the park, on Gartshore Street by the Elora Cataract Trail access points, includes installation of a shade structure, a junior soccer field, and a playground with seating.

The township says there will also be an asphalt path connecting the park to the parking lot and washroom area and the trail.

Total cost of the park improvements comes in at $340,000.

Of that $340,000, $275,000 was allocated in the 2020 budget and $65,000 in 2021.

Work is expected to be completed in November, weather permitting, the township says.

The parking lot was installed in 2018 and the accessible washroom was the result of a partnership between the township and the Van Grootheest team at Century 21 Excalibur Realty Brokerage.
