GUELPH – Renovations are complete and the Guelph Black Heritage Society (GBHS) is ready to show off the newly-acccessible Heritage Hall with a grand opening celebration.
The event begins at 10:30am on Sept. 25 at the hall at 83 Essex St. in Guelph.
GBHS has been calling this renovation its “Freedom Project” as it promotes universal accessibility to Heritage Hall and enables all people to attend events at the building.
“The Heritage Hall Freedom Project has enabled the GBHS to fulfill its mandate to be community centered, promote inclusiveness and be respectful of all Canadians – past, present and future,” organizers say.
The celebration features a ribbon cutting, raising of the GBHS flag, dedication of the Flora Francis Memorial Library, and musical perfomances by Verese Vassell-Bowen and Sammy Duke.
Tours of the facility will be conducted from 11:30am to 3pm.
There will also be refreshments from Laza Food andBeverages and Big Jerk Smokehouse.
Those who attend can support the “Give a Cup” campaign by purchasing some swag – Lantern Brew coffee, travel tumbler, coasters, mugs, baseball caps, masks and sanitizer will be on offer.
