It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ross, after a short illness, peacefully, with his children at his side. Ross was predeceased by his beloved wife & best friend of 43 years, Doris, and was the loving father of Alicia (Eoghan Salee) and Stephen (Claire McCusker). He was a proud Papa who spoiled his grandchildren: Ross, Findlay, Olivia and Tess. He was the cherished partner of Ans Bader, and will be greatly missed by her and by her family. He was the big brother to eight sisters: Marilyn McKee (Glen), Sharon Schmidt (Ron), Edith Beer, Linda Vance, Bonnie Campbell (Don), Brenda Moore, Alice Murray (Nick), and Sandra Dunlop (Kevin). Ross was also a cherished member of the Murray family, as a dear brother-in-law of Ruth and Ron Beaudin, Don and Karen Murray, Barbara Murray, and Jim Murray. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces & nephews on both sides. Ross was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Alicia Vance, his mother and father-in-law, Andrew and Jessie Murray, his brothers-in-law, Norman Murray & Earle Beer, and his sister-in-law, Pat Murray. Ross will be missed by his dear friends from his years in Arthur and in Orangeville, and by his Alma neighbours, who have helped him so much over the years. We are heartbroken by the loss of our quiet, kind, gentle Ross. The family would like to thank Dr. Phillips & the staff at Groves Memorial for their compassion & for the excellent care they took of Ross. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 1:00pm. This will be an informal service; sharing memories and tributes of Ross. All visitors must RSVP, wear a mask and practice social distancing. Due to the limit of attendance, please refrain from bringing children. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Groves Memorial Hospital or The Canadian Cancer Society.
