ERIN – A Halton Hills man is dead following an incident at a local golf course during a serious storm last week.
Emergency crews responded to a report of an injured person at an Erin golf course on Aug. 28 at about 6:10pm.
“Severe weather conditions caused a tree and hydro lines to fall across an unoccupied vehicle that was parked in the lot,” states an Aug. 29 press release from Wellington County OPP.
“The owner approached the vehicle and attempted to extinguish a small fire that had ignited, when he collapsed suddenly.”
William Elliott, 59, of Halton Hills, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police and the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario continue to investigate the incident. Police say a post-mortem was scheduled to determine the cause of death.
