Judy died peacefully in the early morning of August 8, 2021, in her home at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Fergus. Judy was predeceased by her loving and very missed husband, Lee. Together, Judy and Lee founded the Elora-Fergus Den of the Good Bears of the World, bringing joy through teddy bears to sick children in hospitals and residents of long-term care homes. They were commended and celebrated for their Good Bears work by many people and organizations. Even after her work with the Elora-Fergus Den, Judy enjoyed her large collection of teddy bears and delighted all who knew her with the collection. Judy enjoyed her work at the University of Guelph and retired in 2012. Though she had significant health issues during her retirement, her enduring cheerfulness and relentless search for joy in life were infectious and inspiring to all around her. Judy was always grateful for her circle of dear friends, including especially those from St. James Anglican Church in Fergus, and they are missing her dearly. Judy enjoyed kind care and attention from the staff at Caressant Care Nursing Home. Memorial donations can be made in Judy’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, and St. James Anglican Church in Fergus. Arrangements are entrusted to the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, Fergus.
