On July 16, 2021, Kathleen Hedican (nee Cooke), loving wife of the late John Hedican and loving mother of five children, passed away peacefully at the age of 93, at the Village of University Gates that has been her home since August 2020. She spent her lifetime raising her daughters, working side by side with John on business adventures, pursuing her teachers’ certificate and spent 24 years teaching at Centennial Collegiate & Vocational Institute in Guelph. After she retired, she became an accomplished painter, quilter and knitter. Her hands were never idle. She spent many years travelling with John to Arizona to enjoy the warm weather during our cold Canadian winters. She was married to John for 66 years. He predeceased her in 2014, but he was always in her heart and mind. She is survived by her sister Colleen. Predeceased by 7 siblings. She will be missed by her daughters Cheryl, JoAnne, Patti, Wendy and Tara, her sons-in-law Dave, Dan and Mike, her grandchildren Michelle (Geoff), Tim, Amanda, Luke, Emma (Cody), D’arcy (Justin), Lisa (Russell), Fraser (Stefanie), Kate (Christian), and Meghan. She was blessed with 7 great-grand-children Cameron, Landon, Calvin, Matilda, Aoife, Charlotte and Kieran. The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the staff at the Village of University Gates and to Dr. G. Heckman for the exceptional care they provided to our mother. A placement ceremony will be held later in the fall at Memory Gardens in Kitchener, where she will be reunited with John and they will be forever together.
