“The purpose of the campaign is to reduce the number of collisions involving commercial motor vehicles by conducting enforcement and education aimed at commercial motor vehicle operators,” police stated in a press release.
On July 14 and 15 police conducted “targeted and offence-based traffic stops” of commercial motor vehicles throughout Wellington County.
As a result of 24 inspections:
– 13 unsafe vehicles were removed from local roads;
– 12 charges were laid, including seatbelt, insecure loads, overweight loads, logbook violations and other equipment related issues; and
– 28 warnings were issued.
OPP officials say they “are very appreciative of the majority of drivers and companies that were observed to be doing it right. Successful drivers and companies recognize that road safety is just good business.”
