WELLINGTON COUNTY – Newcomers, longtime residents or employees with an organization serving Wellington County are invited to participate in an online survey on inclusiveness.
“We want to know what it’s really like to live and work here. Help us establish a more welcoming and inclusive community,” county officials state in a website post.
“The county feels strongly about helping to establish a community where all residents embrace and celebrate the diversity of the whole community and as a result feel welcome, valued and respected to participate in the social, cultural and economic life.”
Since 2015 Wellington County has been promoting itself as a place to live and work through its Global Talent Attraction Initiative.
“Bringing newcomers to our region enables our local communities to utilize a diverse pool of skilled workers to fuel the economy and offset unfavorable populations trends like aging and decreasing birth rates which have influenced an increase in labour shortages,” the post explains..
“This is why we are conducting the Welcoming and Inclusion Assessment to understand the extent to which Wellington County is welcoming and inclusive.”
The survey aims to help:
– improve the quality of life;
– identify strengths and weaknesses in the local region; and
– help local businesses meet their labour needs.
The county has developed two surveys aimed at collecting opinions specifically from Wellington County’s newcomers and residents, and its businesses and organizations.
Those completing either survey are eligible to win a $100 gift card from a Wellington County business.
