MISSISSAUGA – The Municipal Retirees Organization of Ontario (MROO), a not-for-profit advocating for the rights of OMERS pensioners, donated a total of $7,000 to local charities and organizations in Waterloo, Halton, Wellington, Hamilton, Niagara, Brant and Haldimand between 2020 and 2021.
Across the province, MROO donated $63,000 to organizations and charities as part of their COVID-19 relief initiative.
With many events cancelled in 2020-21 due to COVID-19 restrictions, the organization’s board decided to put savings from those events back into their communities.
Zone 3 director Giulio Di Bacco and his team donated to 14 local organizations and charities in their region, including:
– Brantford Food Bank;
– Carpenter Hospice;
– Hamilton Food Share;
– Port Cares, Project Share (Niagara Falls);
– Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis;
– Centre Wellington Food Bank;
– the Food Bank of Waterloo Region
– Fare Share Food Bank Oakville Inc.;
– Caledonia & District Food Bank; and
– Community Care St. Catharines.
“MROO is all about supporting and advocating for our members and our local communities,” MROO president Keith Robicheau said.
“We couldn’t be happier with the efforts of our zone directors who continue to connect with and support their local communities during this very difficult year. Through grass-roots initiatives and community outreach, MROO continues to be a pillar of support across Ontario.”
