Guelph Legion getting on banner bandwagon

GUELPH – The Col John McCrae, Branch 234 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Guelph, with the assistance of the Downtown Guelph Business Association, recently announced a new initiative to celebrate veterans with the Honour our Veterans banner program.

By displaying banners around the City of Guelph, officials hope to engage the community in honouring and remembering veterans that have a connection to Guelph.

Whether the veteran was born or lived in Guelph, or their surviving family resides in Guelph, the Guelph branch is currently accepting applications for sponsorship of a Veteran’s Banner.

Banners will be displayed downtown Guelph for two weeks leading up to November 11, Remembrance Day, every year.

Similar programs operate in other branch locations.

The program is open for anyone to sponsor a veteran (living or deceased), who served in the Canadian Armed Forces or Commonwealth Forces, who has been honourably discharged from service or killed in action.
