Peacefully at home in Guelph, in the presence of her loving family. Survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Dr. William J. Swan, and by daughters Mary (Alex Porter), Barb (Brian Wolf), and Sue, and sons Bill (Cathy) and Mike (Janice). Also by grandchildren Emma Porter, Ryan, Aaron and Adam Haid, Spencer and Somer Swan, and Laura and Claire Swan. Ruth was predeceased by her brother George Anderson, and is survived by her sister and best friend, Mary (Anderson) Hunter. She will be especially missed by good friends Gail (MacMillan) O’Reilly and Marty Bagworth. Ruth grew up in Lucknow, Ontario, and raised her family in Walkerton, London and Guelph, before moving to Homebank Farm near Ennotville. She taught us how to be good human beings and she taught us how to laugh, and never to take ourselves too seriously. We will always cherish and miss her more than could possibly be expressed. Arrangements entrusted to MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home in Lucknow. Private committal service at Greenhill Cemetery has taken place. A Celebration of Life will follow when it becomes possible to gather again. Condolences may be made online at www.mackenzieandmccreath.com We are very grateful for the assistance of CCAC, and offer heartfelt thanks to Dr David Hood for his compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital. And to honour Ruth’s memory, please perform a quiet act of kindness. Then keep on doing it.
