Community improvement plan update
ERIN – Council approves Community Improvement Plan Update Report to direct $40,000 in funds towards local businesses to encourage them to upgrade, revitalize and expand their businesses.
In a report prepared by economic development officer Robyn Mulder, it read “this program is creating a positive trickle-down effect and is generating economic activity and prosperity for the entire community including other businesses and residents.”
For the first round, Council approved Rexall and Turbo Babe, a new business in the downtown of Erin village, to receive grant funding through the Community Improvement Plan, with proposed projects to include façade and signage updates, public art and building improvements.
Both businesses will also be eligible for County of Wellington funding under the “Invest Well” improvement program.
Accepted bids for infrastructure repairs
Council accepted the bid received from Forest Contractors for the completion of the township’s asphalt repairs for the total bid amount of $280,705.
Staff proposed to award HL2 and HL3 asphalt in various locations not specified at this time, in addition to repairs for the Ballinafad Community Centre asphalt placement.
Erin Community Centre and the Administration Building asphalt placement have been differed and will be awarded at a later date as funding becomes available.
Council also awarded RJ Burnside and Associates Limited a contract for bridge engineering services for the bid amount of $98,700. The bid is within the capital budget expected for engineering services.
The Request for Proposal includes two projects. Project one is for the replacement of a culvert 2059 on Station Road at Sideroad 24 and project two is for replacement of a culvert 10 on 17th Sideroad West of 8th Line.
