GUELPH – Two Guelph men face charges after an altercation in which they hit each other in the head with the same metal pipe.
On Jan. 22 at about 1pm the men got into an argument on the sidewalk on Wyndham Street North near Woolwich Street. One man left the scene, but came back about 30 minutes later with a metal pipe, which he used to hit the other male in the head.
“A Guelph Police Service officer arrived shortly after and saw one male on the ground bleeding and the other walking away with the pipe,” police stated. “As the officer attempted to arrest the accused, he dropped the pipe, which was then picked up by the injured male who used it to hit his attacker in the head.”
Both men were arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A 44-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault with a weapon and breach of probation. He is to appear in Guelph court on May 4. A 52-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault and assault with a weapon. He is to appear in Guelph court on May 7.
