Have you ever tried making your own goat cheese, foraging for wild edibles or baking homemade bread?
At this year’s Guelph Wellington Local Food Fest participants have the opportunity to learn a new skill during hands-on food skill building workshops. There is something for everyone from backyard chickens, to canning and butchery.
On June 22, come celebrate local food in Guelph and Wellington County on the grounds of Ignatius Jesuit Centre from 11am to 5pm. With approximately 2000 attendees each year, this is an event not to be missed.
The Local Food Fest features vendors, exhibitors, live-music, tractor rides, kid’s activities, craft beer, tours, food skill building workshops and demonstrations.
Join a local food lunch as participants bring their own shopping baskets, picnic blankets and enjoy local products from the Farmer’s Market and Exhibitor area.
There will be plenty of “food for thought” as well with our growing list of community groups working on local food initiatives in Guelph and Wellington.
Bring the whole family, as everyone will be sure to enjoy the tractor rides, face painting, and games area.
What is a picnic without local brews? Patrons 19 and older will be able to enjoy local craft beer from Wellington, F&M, Royal City, Block 3 and Grand River Breweries.
Live Kombucha and our prepared food vendors will also offer non-alcoholic drinks to pair with the fresh bites they’re serving. Bring a water bottle to fill up with water on site with Wellington Water Watchers.
Participants are encouraged to arrive by the free shuttle bus or bike.
A Red Car Service shuttle will be leaving from downtown Quebec St., Guelph beside BMO and at the Shelldale Centre.
The strength of the Local Food Fest lies in the dedication of its volunteers and the valuable community sponsors who support it.
Admission: Minimum donation $2.50 per person, $5 per family. Guide dogs only.
