The first meeting of the 4-H poultry club was held on April 6, at the Mimosa Church.
Once all members arrived, leader June talked about the club and what we are to expect in this club.
First off, there was the election of officers, which resulted in Lilly as the president, Deirdre as vice president, Jade as secretary and Sarah as press reporter.
Following this, we looked at pictures of popular bird breeds, such as, the Barred Plymouth rock, Black Sex Link, Columbian Rock, ISA Brown, Rhode Island-Columbian Rock cross, Leghorn and Rhode Island Red.
Next members looked at incubators and different eggs that we will attempt to hatch, using incubators. After this, we watched a few videos, which consisted of a chick hatching from an egg 30 times faster, and how to make a chicken brooder.
Club members then took part in a trivia game about chicken breeds, where the teams were boys versus girls.
Since it was the end of the meeting, the president then said the pledge and motto, and some families that were prepared to take chicks home that night received them.
