At the first meeting of the Mimosa 4-H Public Speaking Club, we elected our officers.
We discussed the topics for the Young Speakers for Agriculture competition at the Royal Winter Fair.
Some members competed in the competition last year and are interested in attending it again.
We watched a short video about communication. We interviewed and introduced a friend to the group.
During the second meeting of the 4-H Public Speaking Club we discussed the parts of your speech and how to organize your speech.
We had to write and present a one-minute speech on a topic that we were given.
In a second exercise we were given a conclusion and had to write speech to go with it. We also played charades.
At meeting three of the public speaking club we spoke for one minute on our chosen topic.
We were videotaped while we spoke. We learned about different ways to express ourselves. We had to say different things using different expressions. We pulled words from a hat that we had to talk about.
