4-H Beef Club members talk butchering

On Aug. 2, 48 members of the West Luther Beef Club met at the farm of John and Andrea Stirk in East Garafraxa for the club’s fifth meeting.

After the meeting was opened Mr. Stirk was introduced and members were split into two groups. 

Mr. Stirk gave the first group a tour of his beef farm and discussed its history and his involvement in the beef butchery industry. The second group went with leader Jason Hurst into one of Mr. Stirk’s barns where they judged a class of market heifers and market steers.
