2022 Summer Lecture Series for Seniors to be on Zoom

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Guelph and Wellington County’s Summer Lectures Club, made up of seniors and retirees interested in life-long learning, will host its upcoming series of 17 weekly lectures.

The weekly lectures will commence March 14 using online technology.

Online talks give the club the great advantage of being able to recruit interesting speakers wherever they may be.

This year’s program features lecturers from Toronto, London, Ottawa, Sudbury, Petewawa, Regina Saskatchewan, and internationally from Cambridge England, Belfast Northern Ireland, Upper Burnmouth Scotland, and even Istanbul Turkey.

Something for everyone

“There’s something in the program for everyone,” the club’s lecture program chair Graham Ford says.

“The range of lectures includes natural history, a visit to the arctic, animal rights, social media, astronomy, climate change, politics, literature, architectural history, the ongoing impact of the colonization of the Americas, and even a little space travel, all from the convenience of your own home.”

All who have time are welcome, officials say.

Lectures are on Monday mornings from 9:30am (to meet socially online) to 10am, with the opening lecture on March 14.
