Police looking to find two vehicles linked to fire that destroyed Erin homes

ERIN – Police are looking for help to find two “suspicious” vehicles they say may be linked to a fire that destroyed several new homes in the Erin Glen development last week.

Wellington County OPP officials say the major crime unit is investigating the Sept. 27 fire, which they now consider “arson.”

Eight new semi-detached homes on Brown Street were damaged – and at least three of them completely destroyed – in the blaze, which was reported shortly before 1am.

Fire officials say the damage estimate is in the “millions.”

In an Oct. 3 press release, the OPP asked Erin residents, “specifically within the Erin Glen subdivision” and those along Wellington Roads 50 and 124, to check surveillance/dash cam footage between 11pm on Sept. 26 and 1am on Sept. 27.

Police say they hope to find and identify the owners of two “suspicious motor vehicles believed to be linked to the investigation”:

  • a 2023 black Honda CRV EX-L; and
  • a grey “Land Rover-type” vehicle.

Anyone with any information can contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
