On May 12 Royal LePage Royal City Realty in Fergus, along with Royal LePage offices across Canada, will transform into an oasis for bargain hunters as they host the 10th Annual National Garage Sale for Shelter in support of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation.
This year’s event at 840 Tower Street South brings together local residents and realtors to raise much-needed funds and awareness to help break the cycle of family violence.
All local funds raised support local women’s shelters.
Royal City Realty is taking part in this national fundraising event because:
– half of all women in Canada have experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual violence since the age of 16;
– 67 per cent of Canadians personally know a woman who has been abused;
– on average, every six days a woman in Canada is killed by her intimate partner; and
– there are 360,000 children are exposed to domestic violence each year.
Since 2009, the national garage sale has raised nearly $3 million dollars.
“The community is encouraged to take part by donating gently used items to our office located at 840 Tower Street South, to help spread the word, and to join in and shop for great deals for a great cause,” officials state.
