WELLINGTON NORTH – The North Wellington chapter of 100 Women Who Care held its 20th meeting and celebrated raising over $200,000 for local causes in just five years. The group meets four times a year. Three local charities are chosen from a hat and the person who submitted each one gives a five-minute speech telling why members should vote for it. Then votes are cast, with each member donating $100 to the cause that wins, a total of $10,000. As the votes are counted, a representative from the winning charity of the previous meeting shares how the money was used. At the June 19 meeting at the Drayton arena, members were encouraged to dress in Canada Day colours. New members of any age are always welcome.
