TORONTO – Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for Yohannes Mebrahtu of Kitchener and Jason Jonkhout of Guelph who matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the May 22, 2021 LOTTO 6/49 draw to win $100,000.
Mebrahtu and Jonkhout are co-workers.
“I’m a regular lottery player, and I enjoy playing as a group or alone,” said Mebrahtu. “When I scanned our ticket a lot of zeroes came up on the screen – I was very happy!”
Mebrahtu waited until the following morning to share the good news with Jonkhout.
“I always joke with Jason telling him we have a winning ticket, so this time he checked for himself. Sure enough, it wasn’t a joke this time!” Mebrahtu said.
Mebrahtu plans to purchase some gifts for his family and save the rest for his future.
“It’s a blessing and will provide a bit of a financial break,” he said.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Esso station on Highland Road in Kitchener.
