On the same day a Rockwood school named its library in memory of Ashlynne Rayner, the late girl’s jewelry was stolen from her family’s home in former Eramosa Township.
Jackie Davis-Rayner said various pieces of jewelry were the only things taken during the break-in, which occurred sometime between 8:30 and 10:30am on June 10.
Family members are particularly concerned about several “irreplaceable” pieces that were taken, they told the Advertiser, including bracelets, a necklace and earrings belonging to Ashlynne, who died in 2007 at the age of five (see related article on page 1).
Other priceless items taken by the thieves, the family said, include Davis-Rayner’s own wedding and engagement rings and her grandmother’s wedding ring.
The family notified the OPP of the theft but is also hopeful a member of the public knows something about the incident that could help in the recovery of the sentimental pieces of jewelry.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
