Last week, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington (BBBS) rolled out its “Big Flush” campaign, which officials say was met with many smiles, giggles and hilarious poses.
Three decorated toilets – Johnny the Toilet Monster, The Golden Throne and Tropical Thunder – were shuttled around Centre Wellington to various businesses and organizations, raising $2,500 for BBBS.
“We are thrilled with how much attention and momentum The Big Flush had in such a short time,” said BBBS executive director Kristen Drexler.
“All of our social media streams grew and we had people calling us to get involved. It definitely met our goals for raising awareness and even raised $2,500 to support the fall programs that we are growing in local schools.”
The In School mentoring program, as well as Go Girls and Game On, are programs that take place in the school to help enhance self-esteem, encourage good nutrition and positive life choices.
Already this year, almost 100 students have participated in an In School mentoring program executed by volunteers who are screened, trained, and supported by BBBS case workers.
