Nestl wins two awards for quality, performance

Nestlé Waters Canada announced last week that its bottling facility has achieved Excellence  in Manufacturing standing from the Canadian Bottled Water Association (CBWA) as well as Supply Chain of the Year and Logistics Excellence recognition from its parent, Nestlé Waters North America.

The Puslinch plant shared its Supply Chain of the Year and Logistics Excellence recognition with its sister plant in Hope, British Columbia. The award recognizes superior performance across a number of indicators, including cost-management, overall productivity, overall performance, quality and safety.

The logistics award recog-nizes exemplary performance in the areas of logistics and transportation. This is the first time the Canadian organization has won this award.

The CBWA model code is a quality assurance program with more extensive requirements than federal and provincial authorities demand. Beyond federal and provincial regulations and regular annual inspections, association bottlers are subject to a third level of regulation involving independent inspections, water testing and analysis, and adherence to the CBWA Model Code.

As a condition of membership, the company must pass an annual, unannounced plant inspection administered by an independent, internationally-recognized organization. That inspection audits quality and testing records, reviews all areas of plant operation from source through finished product and checks adherence to the CBWA Model Code and its code of ethics,

A second condition of membership is that bottlers pass an annual water analysis administered by an independent government-certified laboratory and regularly conduct microbial testing by qualified personnel.
