Water standards costly

by Mike Robinson

WELLINGTON NORTH

Councillor Dan Yake predicts adhering to new drinking water quality standards will present challenges to Wellington North township.
Yake was at a recent seminar in Guelph. “We’ve already decided to spend $40,000” preparing for the process.
Meeting the new standards “is going to be nothing but extra work for staff - and extra dollars in the future.”
Yake got pocket guides outlining the changes to water quality standards and strongly advised council to read the books because they will need to know what they are dealing with. “It is certainly not going to be easy ... or cheap.”
