Though he’s been in the job for almost a month Andy Goldie is now officially Centre Wellington’s acting chief administrative officer.

The official appointment came at the Aug. 13 council meeting following a report from human resources manager Rick Hulley in which he recommended council authorize the mayor and clerk to execute a bylaw for the appointment of Goldie in the CAO role.

Hulley commented that “further to the previous meeting of council on July 16, 2012, and for the period of time up to the appointment of a permanent CAO in the future, and to provide internal continuity in the township’s operations and administration, it is recommended that an internal member of the senior management team be appointed to the role of interim CAO.”

“Welcome aboard Andy,” Mayor Joanne Ross-Zuj added.

Goldie has been the director of the parks and recreation department at the Township of Centre Wellington since August 2006.

The bylaw appointing Goldie, effective July 17, defines the role of the CAO as being responsible for:

- (a) exercising general control and management of the affairs of the municipality for the purposes of ensuring the efficient and effective operations of the municipality, and

- (b) performing such other duties as are assigned by the municipality.
