RFP process saves township over $80,000 on insurance

by Chris Daponte

BRUCEDALE

“I think the township was well served by the RFP process, as you can see by the numbers.”

Consultant Robert Harder brought that message to council on Dec. 19, in regards to a request for proposals  (RFP) that will save the township over $80,000 in insurance costs in 2012.

The winning bid was $217,836 plus tax from BFL Canada Risk and Insurance Services (BFL). The other three bids ranged from $232,693 to $298,949. The township paid over $300,000 for insurance this year.

“This [is] a very positive news story,” mayor Chris White said, before council unanimously approved the bid from BFL.

Council will likely conduct another RFP in three to five years, though there is no firm commitment to stay with BFL.
