Drinking and driving

ELORA - Police have charged an Elora man with impaired driving after the car he was driving allegedly caused a four-car pileup last weekend.

On April 6 at about 5:30pm, emergency crews responded to a four-vehicle collision at Water Street West and Metcalfe Street in Elora.

Wellington County OPP officials say a grey sedan “caused a chain reaction, rear end collision.” No one was injured in the crash.

Rene Joseph Vienneau, 54, of Elora, was charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his system. He is to appear in Guelph court on May 4.

The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
