HOPE donation

Ray Tout, on behalf of the International Plowing Match committee, presents a cheque for $500 to the HOPE (Healthy Opportunities Promoting Empowerment - Destigmatizing Mental Health) Committee acting chair Elsa Mann. Looking on are HOPE member Sabrina Kraemer, community youth resiliency worker Gabby Ieropoli, Virginia Byers and Paula Solway. Byers and Solway represent the Mount Forest United Church on the HOPE Committee. The funds will assist HOPE in carrying out the many events and activities in the works for 2018. The H.O.P.E. committee is an active group of community members and service providers who advocate for mental health services, host educational events, and provide networking opportunities in an effort to destigmatize mental health in the Wellington North and Minto communities. Tout is also presenting $500 to the breakfast programs at St. Mary’s School and Victoria Cross Public School, both in Mount Forest. The committee will be hosting safeTALK, a half-day, evidence-based suicide-alertness workshop that prepares anyone 15 years of age and over to become a suicide-alert helper. The learning opportunity is being sponsored by Get in Touch For Hutch and will take place on Jan. 15 from 6 to 9:30pm at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex. Cost is $20 per person and pre-registration is required by  Photo by Lynne Turner
