Luring charges

A Guelph man faces five charges after police say he tried to lure a girl for sexual purposes.

On Nov. 24 members of the Guelph Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit and Sexual Assault unites started an investigation into a 37-year-old Guelph man who was allegedly luring a girl under the age of 16.

On Nov. 25, Dennis Higgins was arrested at his residence and charged with the following offences: luring, making arrangement to commit a sexual offence against a person under 16, invitation to sexual touching, making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16 and communicating for the purpose of obtaining sexual services with someone under 18.

Police say officers searched Higgins’ residence and seized “a variety of computer systems and digital devices.” Higgins was held for bail court on Nov. 28.
