New exhibition coming to ECFTA

ELORA - Chasing Shadows, a solo exhibition by Elly Mackay, will be on display in  the Minarovich Gallery at the Elora Centre for the Arts (ECFTA) from Oct. 12 to Nov. 12.

In the Minarovich Gallery at ECFTA was scheduled to host an opening reception and book launch on Oct. 12.

The Minarovich Gallery at the ECFTA will be transformed into miniature worlds of paper and shadow with the arrival of Chasing Shadows.

Taking inspiration from Victorian inventions like tunnel books, stereoscopes, magic lanterns and zoetropes, MacKay crafts rich cut-paper dioramas in shadow boxes layered with atmospheric detail and peopled with whimsical characters and ethereal flora and fauna.

An artist, author and illustrator, MacKay works from her home studio in Owen Sound. She was recently commissioned to produce the cover art for the new edition of the Anne of Green Gables book series.

MacKay was scheduled to be at the Elora Centre for the Arts on Oct. 12 for the opening reception and the launch of her new children’s book Waltz of the Snowflakes.

For more information contact ECFTA curator Micaela Campbell at mcampbell@ecfta.ca.
