Vimy oak snapped at Arthur cenotaph

Sapling snapped - Two Vimy oak saplings were planted at the Arthur cenotaph during the July 1 Canada 150 celebrations by the Arthur Legion and the Arthur and Area Historical Society. The saplings, descendents of oak trees at the site of the Battle of Vimy Ridge in France in 1917, cost $125 each. Earlier this week it was discovered that sometime this summer one of the saplings was vandalized, with the top foot of the sapling snapped off. Anyone with information about the crime can call the OPP or CrimeStoppers.  Photo by Faye Craig
