5th Annual Grand River Rodeo rides into town

GRAND VALLEY - The Grand River Rodeo will ride back into Grand Valley from Aug. 18 to 20.

This annual event includes a full weekend of rodeo sports as well as food, live music and classic cars.

Each year the all-volunteer rodeo committee chooses a charity to benefit from the rodeo. This year the charity is the 4-H Club.

“4-H will be on site, providing volunteers to help the rodeo committee and raising funds for their programs,” said Jane Wilson, rodeo chair.

The event begins Friday evening with the National Barrel Horse Association barrel racing event from 6 to 11pm.

There will also be a rescheduled 2016 horseshoe tournament on Friday evening.

The action then continues on Saturday when the Grand Parade marks the official opening of the Grand River Rodeo.

After the rodeo performance the focus shifts to another annual tradition, the live country music event in the rodeo saloon.

Sunday the gates open at 11am and the grounds are filled with beautiful cars for the Cowboy Classic car show.

The rodeo performance begins at 2pm and all of the same rodeo events are scheduled.
