Hospital donation

On May 16, the Grand River Agricultural Society (GRAS) announced it is donating $250,000 over three years to the New Groves Hospital Campaign to name the “Healing Gardens”. FROM LEFT: GRAS director Tony Morris, GRAS 1st vice president Garth Green, GRAS president Paul Walker, Groves Foundation chairman Hugh Calderwood, GRAS director Jason Castellan and GRAS director Gord Surgeoner. Walker explained the donation came about because the organization’s mandate allows the society to donate to environmental and greening projects. GRAS has taken on the role of maintaining some of the gardens the hospital would like to create at the new location. The GRAS donation brings the hospital fundraising total to $14.4 million, which represents 72 percent of the foundation’s commitment to the Ministry of Health to raise $20 million.  Photo by Mike Robinson
