PILKINGTON - On April 12 at about 3:40pm, a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 18 near the 3rd Line here.

Police say the officer observed a 2009 Volkswagon that appeared to be travelling above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was allegedly clocked on radar at about 135km/h in an 80km/h zone.

Benjamin Frick, 25, of Waterloo, was charged with racing a motor vehicle and is to appear in Guelph court on June 7.

The driver’s licence and the vehicle were seized for seven days.
