Impaired driving

GUELPH - On April 8 at about 12:30am, Wellington County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 6 near College Avenue here.

 

Police spoke to the male driver of a 2016 Jeep Cherokee, conducted a roadside screening test and transported him to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

Matthew Kacur, 47, of Toronto, was charged with driving with more than 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his system. He is to appear in Guelph court on May 9.

GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On April 8 at about 4:30am, Wellington County OPP officers were called to the scene of a one-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 124 at Jones Baseline here.

Police spoke to the male driver of a 2012 Dodge Caravan that was in the ditch and transported him to a local OPP operations centre for testing.

James McDonald, 46, of Burlington, was charged with driving over 80mg and impaired driving. He is to appear in Guelph court on May 19.

MINTO - On April 8 at about 10:10pm a Wellington County OPP officer on general patrol observed two vehicles parked on the side of the 8th Line here.

Police say the officer stopped to check on the drivers and detected signs of suspected drug and alcohol use.

Ashley Culling, 18, of Palmerston, was charged with care or control of a vehicle while impaired by drug. Culling is to appear in Guelph court on May 16.

MINTO - On April 14 at about 8:15pm, Wellington County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on School Road 7 west of Harriston.

Police spoke to the male driver of a Ford F150, conducted a roadside screening test and transported him to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

Bradley Popp, 39, of North Perth, was charged with driving over 80mg and driving without a licence. He was to appear in Guelph bail court.

PUSLINCH - On April 14 at about 9:30pm, Wellington County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on Gore Road west of Aberfoyle.

Police spoke to the male driver of a Honda Civic, conducted a roadside screening test and transported him to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

Mahendra Balkinssoon, 40, of Kitchener, was charged with driving over 80mg. He is to appear in Guelph court on May 30.

FERGUS - On April 15 at about 7pm Wellington County OPP received a complaint about a vehicle that was all over the road with irregular speeds.

The OPP located and stopped the driver of a white Volkswagen on Tower Street South in Fergus.

David Stanley, 59, of Cambridge, was charged with driving over 80mg and impaired driving. He is to appear in Guelph court on May 19.

In the above incidents the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
