![]() The Grand Quilt Guild has taken the Canadian Quilters’ Association challenge to help the make and donate 1000 quilts for kids at Ronald McDonald Houses across Canada. On Feb. 25, members of the Guild met at the Elora Legion for a day of quilting. Many members started making blocks for Canada’s Big Quilt Bee. The blocks being made are 12.5 inch slab blocks, each with one piece of the specialty fabric celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday. Members will continue to make additional blocks and have them ready to be assembled into quilts and quilted at Canada’s Big Quilt Bee on June 14 to 17 at Quilt Canada in Toronto. This project is one of the many outreach projects that the Grand Quilt Guild members are participating in this year. The Guild meets the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm at the Legion in Fergus. If you are interested in helping with the blocks or attending a meeting, send a message on our website: grandquiltguild.ca. Submitted photo Canada’s Big Quilt BeeMarch 17, 2017
